Service Description

This course provides an introduction to cultivating edible mushrooms on a small scale. Students will gain practical knowledge in essential techniques, including: • Mushroom substrate preparation: Learn how to formulate and sterilize substrates suitable for different mushroom species. • Spawn inoculation: Master the proper methods for introducing spawn to the substrate to initiate colonization by the mushroom mycelium. • Fruiting induction: Explore the environmental factors that trigger fruiting body formation and learn how to manipulate these conditions for successful harvests. • Mushroom harvesting and storage: Understand the proper techniques for harvesting mature mushrooms and strategies for short-term storage. The course lasts 60 minutes, including 15 minutes of Q&A with instructors. To enhance the in-home learning experience, an optional Oyster Mushroom Starter Kit is available for purchase. This kit includes materials used throughout the class, allowing participants to follow the steps demonstrated during the presentations.
